I had bought a similar antenna which was described as being 5.20 meters long but it was actually 5.60. So I ordered this one believing it was 5.00 meters long but it's actually 5.60, exactly like the other one that I already have. I'll keep it as a spare as it may break sooner or later. Product description non accurate!!!

Q: Does anyone know about this receiver being able to receive ‘standard AM BROADCAST frequencies’? Not shortwave, but the AM broadcast you might receive on a plain AM/FM radio?? I’ve read it doesn’t have a ‘ferrite’ antenna built-in, but that doesn’t alway’s mean it cannot receive local AM broadcasts OUT OF THE BOX. Now, I’m willing to purchase a separate loop-type, or ferrite antenna if needed, though I don’t want to do that. Trying to avoid a standard am/fm shortwave portable, primarily just for AM broadcasts. This is for an emergency ‘breakout-bag’. Thanks!! Xevius Ps: My main reason for wanting this radio, is the solid-construction/design, and the waterfall-display. Were it not for wanting a radio spectrum ‘waterfall display, I would just purchase a certain Tecsun 368 radio, with it’s attachable ferrite antenna. It’s also a lot less $$$. But, no ‘waterfall-display, or tuning of that type!!

BG931794814 Yes, it can receive the AM band reasonably well off the whip antenna, but there is a strong noise coming from the screen. If you push the stand by button on the side, the screen will turn off (including its touch screen capability) and the reception will be free from noise. This problem is not as evident on higher frequencies (short waves).
