MBfromOK No, they are under the glass layers and remove the use of about 30px of the touch interface, best way to hide it would be a bezel or black tape. Additionally, the screen is not backlit in this section.

Q: Can this be used on Arduino Mega without the shield? Thanks

MBfromOK While this can be plugged directly into the the Mega and has the R1 resistor pre-soldered... be warned that the logic for this is tft display is limited to 3.3v (by the chip manufacturer) if this display is actually getting near 5v it has a high likelihood of getting hot and failing early.David Prentice (the maker of the MCUFriend library) is all over the Arduino forums begging people to not use this display with the Mega, PI (and other 5v logic boards) without a using a logic level shifter.

micahbeasley Comes in Celsius mode, while the thermometer is off, long press the power button (until C\F displays on screen) to switch between C\F modes.
