The soldering iron works fine with a battery or simple power supply (I tested with 12V and 24V so far). Heats up quickly and seems to hold the temperature quite well. The temperature display updates a little too often and sometimes jumps quite erratically. Unfortunately the USB-C plug on the device suggests that this can be used with a generic USB-C power supply but that does not work for me. At least no with my 60W USB-C PD supply (which works fine with my laptop, tablet and phone). I have to use the accompanying barrel-connector to USB-C adapter.
