My 1250 Watt workshop vacuum cleaner is very loud; when I don't need its full power I can now reduce its noise with this dimmer circuit. When cranked fully up the heat sink temperature rises to approx. 60° C (140° F). Therefor I assume that the size of the heat sink is too small for the rated load of 2000 W and the dimmer might overheat and/or get damaged over time.
