This is a good 16-chars, 2-rows, Hitachi HD44780 compatible backlit White-On-Blue text display with a I2C interface based upon a PCF8574. Unlike many cheap product, this is VERY well-readable, just use the contrast trimmer on the I2C backpack interface to adjust. It supports the creation of 8 custom characters to create indicators, arrows, smilies and so on. Since it just needs only two wires to connect (plus the power twos, obviously), it frees a lot of pins on your Arduino Uno to be use for other purposes. Many libraries are available for this kind of display... moreover, almost all have the same LiquidCrystal command functions, so it's very easy to update your sketch to use this device. PLEASE NOTE the I2C backpack interface is SOLDERED to the display: if You need a detacheable one, the backpack is available as a standalone product and is compatible with many 16x2, 20x4, 40x2 and other similar LCDs that use the same pinout.
