I love these! Easy enough to solder, though it is definitely time consuming for a longer LED strip. Make sure the power supply wires are rated for the current the chain can consume. There are amperes to AWG conversion tables online. Copper wires from a Cat 5e or Cat 6 Ethernet cable is likely sufficient (commonly AWG 24 and 22), depending on the number of LEDs and maximum intensity. At about 25% intensity (0x404040) and a supply voltage of about 4.7V, a chain of 10 LEDs measured 92mA. At about 50% it measured 168mA. Beyond that level the intensity changes become increasingly less noticeable, but the current becomes increasingly higher (seems like a linear relationship between color channel values and current consumption). You can probably clamp the color channel values at 60% or so. No need to almost double the current for a relatively small increase in intensity.
