Arrived in good time. I have mixed feelings about this device but it is certainly good value for money. The sensor chip does not appear to have great colour performance on the small display screen, the colours look rather saturated, but when used at night the performance actually looks rather good and is comparable with human eye performance looking into lit areas. When using the active IR torch you can see into totally dark areas. The problems with this devices include that the display is very small, and it does not give a good field of view so it is like trying to see in the dark through a straw. When in areas with trees shining the IR torch lights up the leaves which appear bright but means you can't see anything beyond those leaves on trees or the ground beyond the trees. The manual focus is not great and looking around at night constantly fiddling with the focus to get a good picture puts your hand over the IR light so things go dark till you take your hand away or angle your hand to let the light shine forward. I have not looked at the video or photos from the device but I am not optimistic that they will be amazing for this price. Enough bad points. The good points are many. First of all it has a LiPo battery pack instead of 5 AA batteries, which is very good. AA batteries are everywhere but you just end up with lots of dead AA batteries. The unit is small and compact and light and it can record video and photos to microSD cards so it is a DVR for less than 50 dollars. A wide angle camera lens and a mount so you can fit it to a helmet or head mount to use as night vision goggles. Or a side folding screen like a Digital Video Camera has. Performance in the dark surprised me. Now I can see cats and other animals I would never have noticed before in the dark. very happy.
