I have used the same setup that I succesfully use 8 years with original Robitronic with MiniZ/RCP track. The receiver modules are 40cm above the track with 20cm distance between (1m track width). The setup works reliably under any conditions, but with 3 receceiver modules and 30cm I have not meet any problem. The software from RC Timing is good and free (www.rc-timing.ch) for smaller events. when complex planning and race management is required you can go to the professional version (not free). The package was complete and setup was quick and smooth, USB to Serial driver and software were available on the flash.The advantage is USB interface (original Robitronic has serial), but configuration is the same, because the serial interface is simulated over USB. Test of functionality including race condition was successful, but everything was not perfect. Problems: 1) Power supply was functional, but some sounds from inside signaled that something may be broken in the power supply unit. 2) Sometimes the reading was not reliable. I have found that one of receiver modules is crippled - not capable to read the transponder signal reliably on distance over 15cm(!). 3) Transponders are perfectly reliable and working without problem with original Robitronic. But the connectors are preset for some models of MiniZ MR03 and this is not documented anywhere. The same connector can be found on MiniQ, but is not functional with this transponder. No documentation provided with transponders.Connector change/cable conversion is required for other cars. 4) The quality of electronics seems good, but mechanically the solution is not as "rugged" as the Robitronic (no transponder casing, receiver modules covered only with foil).
