(It has a more comfortable grip than the spine design - at least I imagine so.) It is made of sturdy plastic, so I don't have to worry about breaking it. I really like how it's a yellowish off-white instead of just white - it looks more realistic this way. It has a fine tip - 0,6 maybe? - and draws an even line. The pen comes with a cap to prevent it from drying. Actually this was a gift for my little sister who studies biology - she received many compliments from her classmates, though some found it a bit "morbid."
