Q: why isn't this compatible with the x8 mini v2 ? Surely it only a case of upgrading the firmware on the controller and drone?? Are there plans to make it compatible in the future ?

BG175451619 I'm pretty sure that's what's going to happen after they ride this gravy train for a while then they'll be doing an upgrade to include the Fimi x8 mini v2 and ride that version until they make open source to cover the rest of the market. Someone's making bank off this quadcopter. How many years? Genius!!

This was my first drone, and I have to say it is a great little drone to learn the basics on with a half decent fly time. I've crashed it a few times and it's pretty tough. as for wind resistance, I live on the coast in northern England, and its handled up to 25mph gusts quite well. Anything above that, and it gets interesting. The only real letdown is the camera, as you can only really film in 2k at 30fps, and even then, the video quality isn't the smoothest, though it takes decent photos in 4k. The cfly app and the flight modes are basic but functional, and the control is pretty responsive. In conclusion, I'd say it's worth a punt if your interested in taking up the hobby and can get it at a reasonable price, but don't fancy crashing (Which you will) the more expensive dji, Autel, and Fimi drones. On saying that I've just ordered a fimi 8 mini v2, off here, which I will review in due course. hope this is helpful 🙂
