Q: What is the actual power consumption? The specs say 30W, but that seems low. Usually 5630 strip lights are more like 60W for a 5m length when powered from both ends (to reduce voltage drop).

Fairly good quality, but they get very hot. I measured 100 degrees C at the tip after a few minutes of being power on. I worry about the long-term reliability with temperatures that high. Not actually 30W power consumption: I measured 22W. This power consumption level is constant for any input voltage from 12V to 25V (I did not try any higher than that). So, because it is less than the claimed 30W, that means the lumen output would also be less. More like 2500 lm per bulb, so 5000 lm total (quite a bit less than the claimed 8000). I am using these in a portable spotlight. I would never use excessively bright bulbs like this in a vehicle that is driven on public roads. These bulbs are significantly brighter than standard halogen bulbs, and their beam pattern is not optimized to prevent glare for other drivers. As such, if you use these bulbs in a vehicle, you will be blinding everyone around you on the road. Having a bunch of blind people around you on the road seems like a bad idea to me.

Great clock movement. Truly silent, even when putting your ear right up against it. Shouldn't be noticeable by even the most sensitive listeners in an otherwise silent room. Seems to keep time well, but I've only tested it for about 3 days now. I will update this review if I find that it doesn't keep time well, or otherwise has issues in the future.

These are very good strip lights, especially for the price. I have bought 30 rolls of the cold white version (150m total length), and almost every roll was perfect. A few rolls had sections that didn't light up, but re-flowing a few solder joints fixed that. I bought these 30 rolls in 4 different orders over the course of 2 months, and they are all virtually identical in terms of brightness, colour, power consumption, and overall build. In other words, the consistency between batches is excellent. I like the cool white colour. It is slightly cooler than daylight. The adhesive on the back side is pretty good, but not great. If you have a clean, smooth, non-porous surface then it should adhere reasonably well. Even with ideal conditions, though, you might have some parts come off over time. Adhesion to non-smooth or porous surfaces isn't great.. BangGood says in the description that these strip lights consume 30W per 5m roll. That's not entirely true: it can be up to about 70W if powered correctly. If you power them from a 12.0V source, with the power supply connected to only one end of the 5m roll, then yes it will consume 30W. However, with that arrangement the end of the roll furthest from the power supply connection will be noticeably dimmer. This is because the power lines running along the strip are fairly thin, so they experience fairly high voltage drop. To fix this issue, you could attach the power supply to both ends of the strip lights: doing this will result in about 45W of power consumption, much less dimming over the length of the strip, and more light output. To get even more power output/brightness, power it from even more spots along the strip. Or, cut the strip into shorter sections. For example, if you cut it into 4 equal 1.25m sections, and power each from one end, you'll get about 60W power consumption. Powering from more than 4 points will get slightly higher power consumption (and thus brightness), but the absolute max output is about 70W.

toplec Iopened the charger and disabled the fan by cutting its wires. The fan is definitely an after-thought in the design: based on how it's mounted and where it gets power from, it was definitely added after the charger was originally designed. From what I've read online, it was added after people were finding that their chargers were burning out. In my case, I rarely charge more than 2 batteries at a time, so there is almost no chance of burning it out with the fan disabled. When I charge 4 batteries, I'll just make sure to keep the charging current low. I find that this is much better than having to hear the horrible fan noise.

This charger seems to work well, and has lots of features. It's great to be able to see the internal resistance of batteries, which is a good gauge for battery health. I also like the unique feature of the USB port that is powered by the batteries: you put a battery in the charger when the charger is not plugged in, and that battery powers the USB port, so you can charger USB devices like your phone. The charger even turns on its screen and shows the battery level while it's doing this. One thing I really don't like though is the fan on this charger. It's really loud and has a very annoying buzz to it. It's on all the time, regardless of load level. Thankfully it doesn't come on when in USB power mode.

toplec The illumination is provided by a neon bulb, not an LED. The two silver pins are the switched pins (attach your load across these), and to light up the neon indicator light, apply 120V - 240V between the gold pin and either of the silver pins. Neon bulbs are not polarized, so it doesn't matter which side is hot. Note that the switch is internally a DPST switch because it doesn't matter which silver pin you use for powering the neon bulb. I posted a review with an image of the schematic of this switch. Please see that for more information.

These are nice switches, and they work as intended. However, there's two things I don't like: the illumination is provided by a yellow neon bulb no matter the actual colour of the switch, and I couldn't find wiring information anywhere so I had to figure it out myself. The illumination looks fine on the red and yellow switches because the yellow light of the neon bulb looks good with those colours. But, on the green and blue switches it looks weird to have a yellow bulb in these colours of switches. Also, the illumination is quite dim. As for wiring, I figured it out myself and have attached an image to this review to give all the details.
