Even if I have not yet tested all of its functions, I'm able to say that this is a very good product at a very reasonable price: in few minutes I found a lot of infos in the net about how to use it and created simple sketches to send SMS, make voice call, etc... I have not tested pachube support (I don't need it...) but many other people reports it has no problem with it! Anyway, here to You some -VERY LITTLE- notes about installation and configuration to avoid misunderstandings: 1) BE WARNED ABOUT POWER SUPPLY: this produck NEEDS a 5v, 2A power supply to work correctly, otherwise it'll be unable to run correctly. DO NOT use the Arduino power supply: it simply has not yet power for this shield... 2) BE VERY WARNED ABOUT GPIO: they seems designed just for logic use and have very low power capabilities (I prefer use my Arduino pins for this purpose) 3) The switch near to the power barrel jack IS NOT A "POWER SWITCH" but a "power source selection switch" between Arduino +5v pin and external power supply: better use this second one and forget about Arduino 4) You MUST POWER UP the shield -in order to access the network- pressing the right-side tactile switch (near the power LED) OR giving a HIGH state to digital pin 9 of your Arduino FOR AT LEAST TWO SECONDS: You'll see the STATUS and NETWORK LEDs lighting up and blinking (if you have a WORKING and UNLOCKED SIM properly inserted in its slot) 5) JUMPER CONFIGURATION for hardware /software serial port selection may be misunderstood: they are "reversed" if compared with most of the internet similar products: READ the indications on the PCB... SOFTWARE SERIAL (D7-D8 pins) are selected closing the jumper ON THE ANTENNA SIDE, HARDWARE SERIAL (D0-D1 pins) is selected closing the jumper ON THE MIC/PHONE SIDE... 19200-8-N-1 is the default configuration 6) USE "LONGER" PINS STRIPLINE if You have: in fact, I used standard stripline and the SIM socket touch the Arduino power barrel jack: it perfectly works, but is not nice to see... that's all Cheers to anyone... ;-)
