This is an WS2811 LED strip. That means that the LEDs are addressable in groups of 3, NOT individually. Works well for indoor projects. You need to feed 12V from both ends if you are using the full length or you will experience a drop in voltage (and colour change at the far end). This is not due to a faulty or bad product, it's just how LED strips work.
