It's a regular sized carabiner-key chain with a locking mechanism on it. the locking part screws shut and hasn't come loose at all. It keeps me from worrying if a key will come off which I had happen with carabiners that got older and wouldn't shut all the way. With the lock shut it's not really convenient to put on belt loops but it's still a nice big ring for your keys that Can be attached if you feel like undoing the lock.
