Nothing wrong with these devices. If you want to use various types of shields, you should solder the pins as shown in the first photograph below. Note that I used a black plastic strip, (I removed it from the two spare male pin headers). This increases stability and protects a breadboard from too long pins. In the second photograph you can see two screen shields, one must be mounted at the back of the module into the female header pins, the other one at the top (see third photograph). They cannot be used at the same time however. For the weather station in photograph 2, the module was connected through internet to the Schiphol Weather station (near Amsterdam, the Netherlands). Everything works fine.
