BUILD -------- Pros : 1. Finishing is top notch, the titanium grey anodizing is sweet and stand out of your everyday black anodized torch collection. 2. Thread is well machined and smooth 3. Nicely sealed, 0-ring and seals are all in place and of decent quality. 4. Fit Protected Panasonic NCR18560B but will be squeezing the spring a bit to its limits of compression. Cons : 1. Switch is a bit hard to press takes a bit of getting used to. 2. Switch no longer comes in glow in the dark switch as in previous s2+ and S2. Got mine in the new plain black version. Please bring back this feature because I like it very much. 3. The battery tube cavity just barely fit a protected Panasonic (SKU157227) due to the extra heat shrink wrapping on the battery. The battery snugly fit in it and thus removing it is not as simply unscrewing the tail cap, you might need to unscrew the top portion as well just to take out the battery. 4. FUNCTION --------------- Tail Cap current measured using resistor shunt method of a freshly charged Protected Panasonic NCR18650B 3400mAh: HIGH MODE 100% - 2.85A estimated run time 3400mAh batt = 1hour 11min MEDIUM MODE 40% - 1.15A estimated run time 3400mAh batt = 2hour 57min LOW MODE 5% - 0.15A estimated run time 3400mAh batt = 23hour 14min HIGH MODE: Nice and very bright outdoor night use, the yellowish tint really bring out the contrast on the road especially wet roads and the grass by the roadside. But for indoor use I prefer a much cooler white tint i.e. less yellowish light, might get me an another s2+ in a cooler white tint perhaps the one with t6-3B 5000-5200K just to use in the house. The cooler white is just much pleasing and brighter to my eyes indoor. Use it long enough in this high mode the torchlight will get really warm and not so comfortable to hold. Advice not to use this mode too long to prolong LED life. MEDIUM MODE: This is the mode I use most often, the brightness for my night road cycling is adequate and it does not heat up too much in this mode. Plus in this mode I could ran it for almost 3 hour on a my 3400mAh batt. There is no obvious hot spot in the center, it is just a good gradual spread from center with a nice flood spread on the side so that I can see clearly the road curbs. LOW MODE: This mode is best for reading maps and looking for things in the dark that you need to read stuff on it. Some lights is still too bright in its lowest mode that make it hard to read in the dark but not this light. MODE CHANGE 3 to 5 MODES: The sudden off and on in low mode to allow you to switch from 3 to 5 modes can be really annoying. Sometimes I accidentally changed it and get the annoying strobe and SOS mode. Just really need to be aware in low mode not to be pressing the switch button when it suddenly when off and on in low mode OVERALL CONCLUSION: ----------------------------------- Highly recommended for EDC light and night road cycling. Nice flood and good center focus. Gets warm pretty fast in high mode but is not the mode that you use most often but knowing that you could push the LED to almost its max performance when ever you need that extra light really makes it worth it buying this high current version. The medium mode is useful enough is just a good sacrifice for portability and performance. The light also fits nicely on the handle bar with a mount and it is not heavy. It's slim physics also streamline and looks very well with your road bike. A highly recommend buy but please Banggood bring back the green glow in the dark switch!
