This is a solid magnifier. Magnification isn't quite as high as listed but it is clear pretty much to the edge of the viewer. A good piece with a nice case.

I was a little surprised how large it actually is when you hold it in your hand. It's very heavy, and has a robust metal design. The very large glass lens gives a nice clear magnification, making it perfect for inspecting solder joints, looking at flowers or insects, or geological features in rocks. Unfortunately there are a couple of design flaws that might make it unsuitable for heavier use in harsh environments. The black paint is cheap and matte and will most certainly get scratches and start flaking off at some point. It's also way too thick and prevents the magnifier from opening fully to a 90 degree stand. The lock ring keeping the glass lens in place is made of plastic, and I'm afraid it might crack (i.e. from cold or mechanic stress) or come loose at some time, and then you have no way of keeping the lens in place. The pouch material is of decent quality, but the seams will definitively come out soon, so you better re-do them yourself.
