Bought to use as a Bluetooth link for my Meade ETX Telescope. Tried to connect it to the handset initially over rs232, via an external max3232 rs232 converter..... but couldn't get it to talk to the Autostar 497 handset. Eventually connected it directly to the rs232 chip inside the handset on pins 11 and 12 ( ttl level) and hijacked a 5v supply directly from the power regulator ic. Now working perfectly with Sky Safari on my android device. The pcb is small enough to fit inside the Autostar 497 handset but it's better to unsolder the header pins and solder connection wires onto the pcb instead. I will need to remember to temporarily disconnect the rx and tx wires to the bluetooth board if I ever want to update the handset firmware.
