The scrollwheel is used for focussing the view, you "zoom" in and out manually with your own hands. Once you get the hang of this principle it's possible to shoot some nice accurate close-ups! I've added a photo of the text that I want to see magnified, and one directly from the microscope focussing on one of the letters. All in all I am happy with this gadget!

This microscope has good presentation, image quality, easy to use, good price and arrived before the indicated deadline. The included software does not match the user manual, it is much more basic.

Need the patience to focus properly, very low sensitivity but quite happy, since it is a free gift to me :)

I got the 2MP model. At first I had a hard time focusing on anything. When I get to the one end of the focus range, the adjustment wheel sticks there and it's hard to get it out of the stuck position. I'm afraid it might break one day because of that. The drivers come on a small CDRom. I don't have anything that can read that now. Luckily Win 7 recognized it and installed a driver. But there is no viewer. Maybe it's on the CD but I don't know. I downloaded something and I can see now. Now I have it focused and the image is okay. It's a rolling shutter CCD but for a microscope that should be okay unless trying to look at something that's moving. The CCD is rather noisy under certain lighting condition. Compare the two yellow images alternately then you can see the noise. The stand is not very good. At first it looks like it has a suction base, but it's just a rubber sheet to protect a surface, but there is no mechanism to engage suction. There is not much range of motion in the stand to sit on a surface and actually see what you want to see. And it's easy to fall over when looking at something far from the base. Despite the problems, I'm sure I'll find some uses for this microscope.

Using this with Linux Mint. Currently not using the Windows only application that comes with the Microscope. Works well with VLC video player. Going to try running the Windows application under Windoze running on VirtualBox to see if it will work there and if it offers anything better than running with VLC.

I received the microscope, the image is not the best one but the feature is ok for the price I paid. This is not excellent product, the software is very simple. As microscope I am not satisfied, but it is very good to check the numbers in electronic components and PCB welding check. If you are looking for a Toy or for electronic it is OK.

You will get 2MP version, although packaging shows something different. Don't use Windows camera app, as full resolution cannot be used. I use BustATech WebcamViewer which s simple and lets select resolution easily. Sharpness and picture quality is good, regulation of light very useful. The stand should be higher, as only small areas can be viewed. I needed to put a 20cm piece of wood to get a larger vield of view

I ordered the USB-Cam in highest resolution 2Mpix version and was astonished to receive a camera which packaging told that it is only CMOS 640x480 upscaling to 2MPix. But obviously it has a higher resolution than 640x480 and also than 800x600, comparing the still shots in 1:1 pixel mode vs. downscaled+upscaled version - see attachment. Quality is good so far, but the spec printed on the packaging sould reflect the real data...

Working good as intended. My only complain is the stand. It's limited adjusting heights and couldn't get magnifying area what I want. Other than that it's good product.

Microscope works well with both a desktop with 27" screen and 13' laptop with high resolution graphics. Magnification and focus work well: somewhat touchy, however easy to use. Hand holding the microscope to ID IC components works well... need patience.
