DSO Shell (DSO150) Oscilloscope DIY Kit:

1. DSO Shell has similar bandwitch as DSO138 though it contains significant improvements in structure, mechanical, and operation.
2. Display and MCU are now mounted on the same board (mainboard) to avoid using inter-board pin-headers. Feedback from DSO138 usres have shown that soldering on the pin-headers are often problematic for many beginners. Analog channel is placed on a separated board which contains most user install parts. This brings in better separation between analog and digital circuits. Without the analog portion the mainboard is actually a general purpose control board that can be used in many other applications. The mainboard is fully installed (except a few through-hold components) and factory tested before packing.
3. DSO Shell comes with full enclosure. The front panel and top/bottom brackets are flexiable for easy user modification.
4. Rotary encoder has been added. It makes parameter adjustment much quicker and easier.
5. The sensitivity of DSO Shell has been extended in both directions and is higher and wider than DSO138. It reaches 5mV/div --- 20V/div while DSO138 is only 10mV/div --- 5V/div.
6. DSO Shell runs on 9V (do not use power voltage higher than 10V!) power supply. Users need to prepare their own power supply since it is not included in the kits. The power jack on the mainboard accepts standare 5.5mm/2.1mm DC plug. Alternative 2-pin connector (0.1" pitch) is also provided for convenience to connect to different power sources.

Important Notes:

It is assumed that users have adaquate soldering skills and troubleshooting skills to assemble the DSO Shell kits. Buyers are advised that due to skills of user is involved in assembly it is not guaranteed every kit will end up being a working device. But we will make as much efforts as we can to approach that goal.
After receiving the kits users are urged to check mainboard and LCD by applying proper power supply. Report immediately to us or JYE Tech if problem or damage is found.

Within 180 days

If there are any product quality problems which are not caused by artificial factors such as dis-assembly, misuse, drops or falls, water damage, unofficial firmwares, software modifications or any others causes of damage, we will cover the return shipping fees based on the shipping receipt you will provide only if these charges are worth less than US$40. 

If the damage is related to the screen, this situation should not be considered to be included in the scope of this warranty.

If you would like to repair this product, please return it and we will forward it to our repair centers. In this case, you should be responsible for paying the return shipping fees and the repair fees. If there will be any further costs occurred during the return or repair process, you should also be responsible for this.

We will send you a bill showing all the charges we have to pay before sending it back to you.

 

After 180 days from shipment

All warranty requests will be rejected after 180 days from shipment.

Return policy

DOA (Dead on arrival) items

If the product (except for DIY kits) has arrived broken, please contact us within 3 days from the day you received it and then follow the 3 Days Product Guarantee.

About unsatisfactory products

If you are not satisfied with your purchase, you can return it within 3 days from its delivery date to receive a refund of your purchase minus the shipping fees. You will have to pay the shipping fees both ways if the reason is not related to our mistake. Please ensure to return the item with its original packaging and in the same conditions in which you received it.

  • The assembly is pretty easy and for me was trouble free of wrong parts. I think I understood correctly the calibration (it works OK for me). I did, as another user mentioned, fit a flat 950mAh LiPo with a step-up and a charging circuit with an opening to the side for a USB charging. It\'s great you should do it. Take note that because you use battery as a source to the step-up you can eliminate the input capacitor without much of a problem. And also you can cut pieces of the step-up PCB as long as you can keep the traces (the ground is common to input and output ;) and is usually the bottom layer). Trim any throu-hole lids and protect with electrical tape! Only problem is that the step-up draws some minimum current even if the unit is off, so you should remember to charge it regularly (my charging circuit protects from undervoltage thought).   • It was easy to build it up. Took approx 2h. I've measured all the resistors with a multimeter because color code is impossible to read. Everything went OK until the setup by C3 and C5. I didn't find any big difference when I tuned them. You should align all connectors very well because otherwise the box will not fit nicely. I didn't align the encoder and the connector between the analog part and the cpu part and needed to resolder them to fit better. Next good advice is to get programmer and put the most fresh firmware from the site of JYE Tech because mine was two iterations older and had bugs (mainly with some offset of the built in generator). The device is more or less functional until 50 kHz as if I put 100 KHz the time interval becomes too short and it's not possible to view much. This is because the sec/div minimum is only 10 us. The update of firmware is not very well described but I succeeded :) On the site of JYE Tech there's very good forum and I think they shared the firmware in open source. I should find a way to put battery inside and with DC-DC step up to make 8-9V but for sure it should be noise free as even now with two 18650 I see some noise. Read moreHide
