However, the brass pinions get chewed up quickly because of two reasons: -The brass is very soft, and does not last long. The motor will outlast the pinion. Could use a stronger hardened gear. -The mounting shaft for the spur gear has been crooked on every unit I have received. This makes the gear mesh at an angle, which accelerates wear. I simply take a heat gun and gently heat the plastic around the pin around both sides until I can move the pin to be parallel with the motor shaft. This makes for tighter straighter gear mesh, and longer lasting pinions.

I am so glad I ordered spare parts (thxkid - suggested to buy spares) Now, this thing is nice to have, you have a spare motor, and the whole assembly. My original tail, failed because the plastic gear for the tail blades, stripped. This happens if you land in tall grass and the tail blade gets caught up. My improvement suggestion, change the plastic gear to a metal one, or sell the gear by itself. PROS: Great replacement/spare part to have. Price is good for a tail motor included. CONS: bad flying, crash landings can lead to stripped gears.

finally my parts showed up, in good shape but 1st thing I did was remove plastic from the back of the motor and install a heat sink
