I bought this item to use as a quick release for attaching cameras to custom made mounts. I was surprised at how heavy the metal was, and yes it is all made of metal with rubber to give a secure connection of the mounting plate and camera. It has a threaded attachment point on the fixed part of the quick release to be secured from the bottom or, it can be secured from the top using the countersunk hole. I highly recommend this item.

Très belle qualité, fonction identique à celui qui ce trouve sur le pied il équipera la tête panoramique et autre accessoires... il ne manquait même pas la sécurité et je trouve même qu'elle est plus facile d'usage que la pièce d'origine !en tout cas l'usage des pièces de l'une ou de l'autre est compatible ! ici les divers pièces qui constituent ma tête panoramique (il manque encore une tête tournante ....:Myrmica 360ti monopode automatique

Exaclty what I expected. Works no Problem with the manfrotto original, but the locking is not 100% secure. Good enough for Ligther Cameras oder a flash (what i use it for)
